February Pages

Pages & doodles from last week.
I had originally used pink watercolor for the "sketch a day" line, but wasn't liking it.
I painted over it with white acrylic and filled it in with green instead.A peek at next week's pages too:
If you won a million dollars, what would you do with it?
I wouldn't mind buying myself both a studio and a little farm.

I've had lots going on.  Busy, every day stresses.
On Friday evening, I decided to draw my cat, Chloe, for no other reason than I love her.
And I wanted to relax.
I've always wanted to record a speed drawing, so here is my first try at it.
It's a bit shaky and disjointed.  Still trying to figure it out!
But here is the first 20 minutes, sped up to 2 minutes.

The song is "Classy Girls" by The Lumineers.
Random supply tidbit:  I keep my erasers and sharpeners in a pretty little candy tin.
Love my girl.

What do you like to do to wind down from a busy week?

Prepped Journal Pages

I try to prep my little journal pages at least 2 weeks in advance.
I set aside about an hour on Sundays to work on them.

This week I was inspired by oranges & yellows.

I found some scraps of watercolor pieces that I had abandoned.
I snipped a few of them up to make them into raindrops.
I used watercolor, scraps of paper, and washi tape (how I love washi-tape!) to fill in the rest.

Random Inspiration

I read this quote today and really liked it:
"My imperfections and failures are as much a blessing from God as my successes and my talents, and I lay them both at his feet."
- Mahatma Gandhi

Art Inspiration: Gray Keys

How are you?
I've been a busy bee,
but I do have some new pages & projects to share with you later in the week.

Until then, here's a design video by Carlo Vega.
I found it to be fascinating.

Hope you have an enjoyable week!

Gratitude Journal

I was on my way home from work yesterday.  I flipped on my radio.
And this song came on.  Tears rolled down my eyes.

What you might not know about me is that I have a not-so-tidy past.  I was a teen mom.  I married young.  I divorced young too.  (Side note:  I don't know what the deal is with reality shows,
but Teen Pregnancies and Divorce Papers are not fun or entertaining!  Seriously.)

During that time in my life, I prayed with all of my heart that my first marriage would work out.  Instead, it fell apart.  My heart was broken.

Despite the mess, God began healing and restoring my life in ways I would have never imagined.
I was made whole.  I learned how to be strong; how to forgive and be forgiven.

And then I met Jason, my best friend.

Glimpses of my past remind me how far I've come, and just how sweet it is to be given a second chance.

DIY Pin Board

It's no secret that I love Pinterest
but, I've always wanted a tactile inspiration board for myself too.

My sister & I decided to head out to the craft store and make some for ourselves.
We picked out some old, pretty frames and purchased a roll of cork board.
We simply removed the backing to the frame and replaced it with the cork.

Mine now hangs in my hallway.

I'm easily inspired by:

old family photos
blue & greens
my daughter's poetry
a cute family of bears
Abe Lincoln quotes

What gets your creative juices flowing?  :-)

Journal Pages

How was your weekend?
After a tiring week, I was able to get some much needed rest.

Sometimes it's good to carve out a few "do-nothing" days.
pages in colored pencil & watercolor.
