It's that time of year again.
I got my first kick-in-the-pants cold last week.
It's clearing up pretty quickly, but the first few days were a doozy.
I was miserable.
As I laid in bed, I tried thinking of all the "wonderful" things I could be thankful for.
1) Cherry flavored cold medicine.
2) I Love Lucy DVDs that my sister bought me last year.
3) But thinking a little bit harder .... it's my husband.
Now, he's my best friend & sweetheart, but he's also a "tough military man". When it comes to pain, there's definitely an unspoken, no-whining, pee-on-it-and-walk-away policy in our household (I'm kidding about the peeing thing.) So it always surprises me when I'm sick. He gets remarkably sweet and protective of me, running to get me water and medicine, checking in to see if I need anything.
Go figure. I love it about him. I should get the sniffles more often. :)
What lifts your spirits when you're sick?

Jeny, i miss Lucy too .... :( I love how you draw the bottle glass they look so awesome and very 3D. love it .... i am too married to a military man. cheers!
ReplyDeletethanks, Refine! What branch of service is/was your husband in?
DeleteThis is a great spread - seems I have the first cold of the season, too; and I rarely get colds! I'm afraid things go on as usual around here when I'm sick - still cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, all that stuff. But it's just a cold, after all, not the flu (at least, I hope it doesn't turn into the flu). Sounds like you have a sweetie, definitely!! And good for you, taking the time to draw all the cold stuff :)
ReplyDeleteoh no! well, I hope you feel better too, Rhonda! I was so glad (maybe ''glad'' is not the right word), to have gotten the worst of it over the weekend. It's so tough during the work week with everyday responsibilities! sending you feel-better wishes. :)
DeleteSorry you've been ill, but the inspirational it gave you to make those pages... which are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhat lifts my spirits when sick? Warmth. Quilt, fire, cuddles, hot chocolate :)

DeleteI think this season change it always a bit hard; we have the sniffles around here too. It is tempting to stay in bed an extra day when you are being pampered by the one you love, huh :)
ReplyDelete*almost* tempting! :) Wish i didn't have to be sick to get waited on, but I will take it! Hope you're family is feeling better too, BB.
DeleteHope you feel better soon but cute journal entry and sweet pic of you and your hub. I always creat a lot when I am sick, too...

Deleteoops, create...with an E. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful spread, and seriously sweet the way you put the photo in there, off to the side and unassuming. I could probably watch the first half of Wall E, or My Neighbor Totoro to make me feel better. Oh! And if my honey will make me some veggie sausage and shrimp gumbo. :)
ReplyDeletethank you, Cindy! Shrimp gumbo sounds SO good!
